Are travel coffee mugs allowed in carry on luggage on airplanes?

ok, i am flying back to my home from north carolina in a few days and i purchased travel coffee mugs for my father and his wife ( coffee cups with covers on them ). I am flying back on delta airlines. Will they let me fly home with them?

    so long as they are empty, there shouldnt be a problem
